PA Youth Movement in fond memories

The People's Association Youth Movement (PAYM) could be traced back to 1971 when the PA Youth Sub-committees were formed under the umbrella of the the People's Association. PA Act was enacted in Parliament in 1960. In 1973 the People's Association Youth Movement with five Regional Youth Councils were formed under the Central Youth Council to coordinate activities of 93 Youth Groups based at the community centres. Ten Youth Officers with the People's Association were engaged as pioneers in the early years to spearhead many activities. They started to keep the ball rolling. The PA Youth Section was formed to provide administrative and secretariat service and support to the PA Youth Movement. The National Youth Coordinating Secretariat was formed in 1975 to provide administrative and secretariat service to the National Youth Service Awards Panel under the then PA Youth Section of the People's Association. This photo showed some of the Youth Officers and Youth Leaders in the early stage of PAYM having a gatherings in 2013. With their enthusiasm and effort, they made tremendous contribution during the formative years. They can tell many stories of their involvements and commitments in those formative years.

This photo showed the earliest youth members from the Bukit Timah CC Youth Group having nostalgic gathering at the Kukup in 2013. Through some good effort of the youth leaders of those days, they managed to reconnect them again.
